In 2024, Company MEK has launched a new program for and by the community that moves in hip hop culture. With Common Ground – The Program, Company MEK wants to enter into a conversation with the local scene and research what it takes to work in a theater context. With this program, Muhammed Kaltuk and the MEK company aim to strengthen the Swiss dance scene, allow it to grow and open up a path to the theater.
Common Ground will take place with invited dancers at Zürich and/or Basel. At the end of each month, the researched material will be presented in showings. The instructors will decide in the middle of each month whether such a showing will take place – showing dates will be announced here and on social media.

For over a month, Dalvin Sollberger from Company MEK has been working with a group of dancers. As part of the format Common Ground – The Program, they will present a work-in-progress resulting from this collaborative practice. In the Q&A session that follows, Dalvin will offer insights into the process, and the company will perform excerpts from their dance piece Same Love. To wrap things up, the dance floor will be opened for an open jam—a chance to dance along, experiment, and connect.
During the open jam, participants will also be selected for the next edition of Common Ground – The Program in January 2027.
