In 2024, Company MEK is launching a new program for and by the community that moves in hip hop culture. With Common Ground, Company MEK wants to enter into a conversation with the local scene and research what it takes to work in a theater context. With this program, Muhammed Kaltuk and the MEK company aim to strengthen the Swiss dance scene, allow it to grow and open up a path to the theater.
Common Ground will take place with invited dancers at Tanzwerk101 and Tanzhaus Zürich. The program for 2025 will be developed and refined through final evaluations. At the end of each month, the researched material will be presented in showings. The instructors will decide in the middle of each month whether such a showing will take place – showing dates will be announced here and on social media.
